Accommodation Information

Brief Description of Hotel:

From the Romans through to the present day, New Park has been an integral part of the New Forest. Tucked away within the National Park, New Park Manor is a uniquely placed bolthole for families. New Park dates back to the time of William the Conqueror, who made the forest a royal hunting reserve in 1070. Its name comes from ‘Nova Foresta’, meaning ‘new hunting ground’. By the first half of the 17th century, the manor house was owned by Sir George Cary, a staunch royalist and Catholic. Cary was a landowner with many estates, but suffered badly during the Civil War, losing most of his property. With New Park somehow still in his grasp, he retreated here with his new wife Elizabeth. Many original features found in the manor date back to this time, including fireplaces, a coat of arms, and acorn and oak-leaf patterned doors. A sense of history, combined with modern comfort, pervades throughout, including the Rufus lounge, complete with log fire and oak panelling.
